Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s national cause campaign to increase awareness of heart disease - the leading cause of death for women - and to inspire women to take charge of their heart health.
The grassroots campaign has grown since 2004 into a vibrant national movement as more women, men, healthcare professionals, policy makers, and even celebrities embrace and elevate the cause of women and heart disease. Thanks to the participation of millions of people across the country, the color red and the red dress have become linked with the ability all women have to improve their heart health and live stronger, longer lives.
The Go Red For Women campaign of Sandhills NC Region serves Cumberland, Robeson, Hoke, Moore, Scotland, Bladen, Sampson, Richmond, Harnett, and Lee (Sanford) counties. We have a diverse group of passionate and committed women who, as Go RED Ambassadors, share their stories and emphasize on the importance of being more aware of their bodies, on knowing the signs & symptoms of a heart attack, on understanding their numbers, and to determine what steps one has to take to have a healthier heart. In the month of February, we celebrate Heart Awareness Month, by inviting individuals and groups (organizations, schools, shops, offices, churches, clubs, etc) to go RED. One way to do this is by participating in National WEAR RED DAY on February 7. Interested? Click the button below for more information:
On February 8, we will have our largest Red Buzz Event, (which is just one of many other events organized by Go RED supporters) called the 2nd Annual Fashion with a Touch of Red event, with the support of our National Sponsor, Macy's, at Cross Creek Mall, Fayetteville. We invite all women in the Sandhills NC Region to come in their favorite RED outfits. Click the button below for more information.
This year long movement will celebrated at a cornerstone event – GO RED FOR WOMEN Expo & Luncheon, which will be on May 13, 2014 at the Highland Country Club in Fayetteville NC.
This is a fun filled yet educational event where women of all generations will get practical tips and information on healthy eating, exercise and risk factor reduction, such as smoking cessation, weight maintenance, blood pressure control and blood cholesterol management, and stress reduction. As a result, our attendees feel empowered to make it their mission to be pro-active about their heart health and that of their loved ones.
