Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s national cause campaign to increase awareness of heart disease - the leading cause of death for women - and to inspire women to take charge of their heart health.
The grassroots campaign has grown since 2004 into a vibrant national movement as more women, men, healthcare professionals, policy makers, and even celebrities embrace and elevate the cause of women and heart disease. Thanks to the participation of millions of people across the country, the color red and the red dress have become linked with the ability all women have to improve their heart health and live stronger, longer lives.
The year long movement is celebrated at a cornerstone event – Sandhills Go Red for Women Expo & Luncheon, which will be on May 13, 2014 at the Highland Country Club in Fayetteville NC. This provides women of all generations with tips and information on healthy eating, exercise and risk factor reduction, such as smoking cessation, weight maintenance, blood pressure control and blood cholesterol management, and stress reduction.
